Rationale and Purpose of the Module:
The module focuses on the individual instrument. The purpose of the module is the facilitation of performance tuition to the highest standard.
The ultimate goal of the module is to improve the quality of the music making and artistry demonstrated by the student and to prepare for public performances aiming towards professional level.
Syllabus:
This module takes the student from his/her point of entry and expands on technical mastery and repertoire knowledge with the view of gaining insight into performance styles relevant to musical history and tradition in the classical genre.
The module is based on skill and competency of execution. The student may have to begin the module with extensive revisions in technique and a somewhat different approach to the instrument owing to the pedagogy of the professor involved.
The knowledge is structured within three key areas:
1. Instrumental skills aiming towards technical fluency and mastery
2. Repertoire knowledge relevant to the instrument
3. Stylistic knowledge working towards informed choices of interpretation
The materials and pedagogical direction of this module, because of its one-to-one tuition and highly individualistic approach is open to the teacherÆs interpretation and revision in actual practice.

How the Module will be Taught and what will be the Learning Experiences of the Students:
The module is based on laboratory work in the form of master classes and one-to-one studio teaching with the expectancy of high quality individual student preparation and rehearsal time.
